Troodon is a genus of theropod dinosaur which became extinct 66 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous Period. Several modern-day reports of living dinosaurs closely resemble Troodons. The 2008 Georgia Raptor sighting is a notable example. In that case, the witnesses saw a bipedal animal with a long, stiff tail and short arms. It also had a huge claw on both of its feet. There have also been some other sightings from the Eastern United States which closely resemble Troodons. It has been suggested that these reports from the Eastern United States might actually represent a surviving descendant of Troodon.
